Chapter 4

The next week was very hectic.  We didn’t want to leave until the funeral, so that gave us a week to get everything ready.  When we went back to Fujiko’s parents’ house the next day to help plan the funeral, we decided to not tell them about us just yet.  That would wait till later.  At least, that was the plan.

******************************************************************

While we were in the living room talking with Mr. Kobayashi, Mrs. Kobayashi looked at my strange and went into the kitchen.  After a few minutes, she came back.  “Terry, could I speak with you for a moment?”

Fujiko looked at me concerned.  I patted her hand reassuringly and went with Ava into the kitchen.

She looked at me with a mischievous smile.  “You fucked Fujiko, didn’t you?”

That threw me off completely.  “What?!”

“Don’t try to deny it.  I can tell!  I always wondered if she would finally let you hit that.”

“It-it’s not like that!”

“You finally won her over?  Good for you!  Still, Fujiko is inexperienced.  Little more than a girl.”  Suddenly, she moved in close and I realized too late that I was trapped between her and the kitchen counter.  “How about I show you what a real woman can do?”

“Mrs. Kobayashi!”

“Ava.  And I know you want to.  You’ve wanted to for a long time.  There are so many things I can show you!”

She reached for my crotch, but I grabbed her wrist at the last second.  “We—No—I-I can’t.  I love her.”

“You mean to tell me that I’m offering you the best sex you’ve ever had and you’re still thinking of her?!”

“Y-yeah.  Yes, I love Fujiko and I can’t hurt her like this.”

She stood there looking at me for what seemed like forever.  Then, she sighed and backed away.  “I almost hate to say this, but you pass.”

Now, I was completely lost.  “Wha…?”

“You.  Pass.  And I was so looking forward to this.  I really like black guys.  Now, I’m all worked up for nothing!”

“Wait, what did I pass?”

“My test!  You really are dense sometimes!”  She sighed.  “You’re the first boy that my daughter has brought home that wouldn’t fuck me.  If you really love her that much, then you had better marry her.”

“I…plan to.”

“Good.  I really am happy for you two, and you have my blessing.  Now, I’m going to my room to…work out some frustration.  If you change your mind, come on up.”  Then, she whispered in my ear sensually.  “I really do love black guys.”  Then, she walked away, swaying her hips seductively.  Eventually, I managed to get enough blood flow into my brain to walk back to the living room.

“Are you alright, Terry?” Fujiko asked.

“Yeah, I think so.”  Both Fujiko and her dad looked at me curiously, but dropped it.

******************************************************************

“I’ll kill her!”

We were back in her bedroom and I had just told her what happened with her mom.  “Fujiko, calm down.”

She started pacing.  “Calm down?  You tell me that my mom has been fucking my boyfriends for years, and she tried to fuck you, too, and you want me to calm down?!

“Fujiko, you have every right to be angry, but try to see her side—”

She turned to face me furious.  “Her side?!

“Sorry, poor choice of words.  What I meant was that in her own, really fucked up way, she was trying to protect you.”

She stood there for a moment, saying nothing.  Then, she yelled out and lunged at me, tackling me onto the bed.  I didn’t know if I should be frightened or turned on.  Then, she started pummeling my chest.  Frightened.  Definitely.
How.  DARE.  You.  Take.  Her.  SIDE!!!”  Each pause was punctuated by her hitting me.

“Fujiko!”  She wasn’t listening or stopping.  While she wasn’t strong enough to really hurt me, this was starting to sting.  So, I had to resort to drastic measures.  I grabbed her head and pulled her into a kiss.  She resisted at first, but eventually she started to relax and kiss me back.  After a couple of minutes, she broke away and looked down at me, still flushed by not visibly angry.

“You’re like my kryptonite or something!” she said between gasping for air.

“I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“Don’t think you can make me stop hating her, though!”

“I know, but you were trying to murder me.”

“Oh God, I’m so sorry!  I actually hit you!”

“It’s okay.  I know you were just upset.”

“It’s not okay!  I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.  I just physically abused you!”  She backed away from me like she was afraid she would hit me again.

I sat up and held her.  She was shaking.  “Fujiko, you’re not an abusive person.  I’ve never seen you that angry before.  I guess I didn’t realize that you were hurting so bad.  But remember, I did pick you over her.  Don’t let the past keep us from having a future.”

“I’m sorry, Terry.  I love you.  I really do.”

“I love you, too.  And you’re beautiful when you’re angry.”  We kissed and spent the rest of the night in each other’s arms.

*****************************************************************

The rest of the week, we spent getting everything in order.  She ended the lease on her apartment and stayed with me at my house for the rest of the time.  We put a lot of stuff into storage so we could figure out what to keep later.  Also, we went shopping to get me a new wardrobe, but it was about the same as my old wardrobe.  Just smaller.  She did make me cut my hair, saying that I needed to look somewhat presentable if I was going to date her.  I kept the beard, but got it trimmed short as a compromise.

I told my family that I was going to put school on hold to take a trip with Fujiko.  My dad wasn’t happy with that, but he didn’t protest as much after I told him that we were dating.  I did promise to come back and finish, though.

My professor didn’t take the news nearly as well, especially since I didn’t tell him why I was leaving exactly.  I just told him that I had to take care of some very important business that couldn’t wait, but I would be back.

As for Fujiko, Grandfather left her the museum in his will.  And in a complete surprise, Ava volunteered to run it while Fujiko was gone.  I could tell this was her trying to make amends, so I convinced Fujiko to agree.

After the funeral, Mr. Kobayashi took us all to the museum to read the secret part of Grandfather’s will.  “Only I knew about this,” he said, “and I was only to tell you if it turned out that Father was right.  I still can’t believe this, though.”  He led us to Grandfather’s office.  “Fujiko, there’s some kind of magical seal that you should be able to open.”

“Alright.”  She closed her eyes in concentration.  Then, she touched the desk in a certain spot and a draw popped open.  “I always thought that drawer was stuck!”  In the drawer were a video tape and a strange amulet.  Fujiko popped the tape into Grandfather’s old VCR.

“I guess this explains why he didn’t want a DVD player,” I said with a grin.

“No, it was because he didn’t see the point in upgrading.”  Then, she turned on the TV that sat on the bookcase on the wall and hit Play on the VCR.  The four of us sat in chairs around the desk.  On the screen, Grandfather appeared sitting behind the desk.

“I hope this thing works.  I rented a camera to make this.  If I were still young, I would have enchanted a scroll for the will, but I guess this is the next best thing.

“Now, if you’re seeing this, it means that I have failed, and the Crystal that our family has guarded for generations is lost.  Fujiko, Terry, I am truly sorry that you must now deal with what has happened.  However, you are our only hope.  Terry, if you have no already done so, take the Kobayashi sword.  I still don’t understand why, but its power is meant for you and you alone.  I wish I could have trained you myself, but the sword should help you draw upon and focus your inner power.  Should you master that power, your potential will be limitless.

“Fujiko, you have never been allowed to test the limits of your power, but I fear that you will need to do so sooner than you’d think.  Your training is incomplete at best, but you must take these final steps yourself if you are to have any chance at success.  You must become a true Kagemusha.  The amulet in the drawer is my last gift to you.  With it, you can locate the other parts of the Crystal.

“Saito, my son, if I have any regrets, it is in hour I have treated you.”

“Father….”  Mr. Kobayashi was actually getting emotional.

“You may not have the power of our family, but you are part of it.  I never should have treated you differently.  If it matters, I am truly sorry.

“Ava.”  She perked up.  “I have never liked you.”  Disappointed, she pouted.  “You have been a horrible wife and an even worse mother—”

“Of all the nerve!”  The truth hurts, and Grandfather got in the last word from beyond the grave.

“—but I believe in the end, you will redeem yourself.

“Now Fujiko, listen to this old man’s last wish.  You should marry Terry and have many children to restore the Kobayashi line.”  He said this with a grin and then, he winked.

Mr. Kobayashi looked like he was in shock.  “Marry?  Terry?!  That’s ridiculous!”

“I don’t know, dad,” Fujiko said.  “Wouldn’t it be wrong of me to not honor his last wish?”  Then stunned look he gave was enough to make her, Ava, and I burst into laughter.

He gave me a very serious look.  “You’re already dating, aren’t you?”

“That’s right,” I admitted.  “…Dad.”

“I can’t kill you until after you’re done saving the world, but after that, your days are numbered!”

“Lighten up, Saito,” Ava said hitting him across the back.  “Terry’s perfect for Fujiko.  He’s going to be a high paid engineer someday soon.  And even if he did end up knocking her up, he’s the one guy she’s dated that would do the right thing without you threatening him.”

I was amazed at her endorsement, despite how crude it was.  Apparently, so was Fujiko.

“You’re okay with the fact that they’re going to be shacking up for however long they’ll be gone?”

“Honey, they’re already ‘shacking up’.”

“Mother!”  That was enough to shock Fujiko into speaking to her mother directly.

“Get with the 21st Century.  It’s very common for couples to live together before getting married.  And it’s completely normal for a young couple to have sex before marriage.  The fact that she went this long without having sex is amazing.”

“I don’t want to hear this!” both Fujiko and her dad said at the same time.  Then, they both laughed relaxing a little.

“I guess it’s too late to have ‘The Talk’,” Mr. Kobayashi said to Fujiko.

“Yeah, I guess,” she replied.

“Good.  I would have died from embarrassment.”

“Me, too.  Though…Mother managed to handle that well enough.”

Who needs late night pay channels when your mom is a wannabe porn star?

*****************************************************************

The next day, we loaded up my car and got ready to leave.  Fujiko’s parents came back to see us off.  Saito gave us a blank check “for emergencies only”.  Ava gave us what looked to be a quite worn book.  She said it was her favorite, but she had it memorized now.  When I opened it and saw it was the Kama Sutra, I blanked for a moment and Fujiko had to elbow me in the ribs before I could thank her.  As we pulled off, Fujiko muttered something about her mother getting in the last word.  Then, she started reading.
And here's Chapter 4, which was originally part of Chapter 3. This does cover the last of the loose ends that had to be taken care of before the hunt for the Crystals can begin.

Yeehaw, the search is on! :D
I'll have to read Kama Sutra one day, since I love Greek and Roman philosophy so much.
